May Workshop in Bilbao

Agirre Lehendakaria Center will gather its international collaborators in the field of the so-called “Basque Case” research in a seminary that will take place in Bilbao, next May 29th and 30th.

Seminar with Christian Bason

On June 6th Agirre Center organized a seminar with The Mind Lab director and european reference in the field of public sector innovation Christian Bason and several basque agencies and companies.

i2 Network launching

Last September ALC and UPV/EHU launched a collaboration network in innovation between the Basque Country and Wales. Some Welsh institutions and companies visited Bilbao in order to identify potential collaboration projects.

ALC in Chile

Between the 12th and the 19th November, a delegation from Agirre Center visited different South-American countries in order to present the Basque Case and identify potential collaboration projects with the Basque Country.

ALC in Brazil

Between the 12th and the 19th November a delegation from Agirre Center is visiting different SOUTH-AMERICAN COUNTRIES in order to present the Basque Case and identify potential collaboration projects with the Basque Country.

Conference at GECEMAT

Last October 11 director of Agirre Lehendakaria Center for Social and Political Studies and former president of the Basque Country Juan José Ibarretxe offered the conference ”GLOBAL SOCIETY, LOCAL RESPONSE” conference at GECEMAT.

ALC in Croatia

Last April 10 a delegation from Agirre Lehendakaria Center, made up of ALC Director and former Basque President JUAN JOSE IBARRETXE and ALC Senior Fellow and Young Foundation member GORKA ESPIAU, visited Zagreb in order to make progress in the joint projects with Croatia. The Mediterranean country has shown great interest in knowing in depth about the BASQUE TRANSFORMATION experience in the last few decades.

Seminar at Liverpool University

Agirre Center participated in the seminar “AN END TO THE BASQUE CONFLICT?” that took place at Liverpool University last March 26. This one-day seminar focused on the nature of the Basque conflict and why it is still proving so difficult to resolve.

Seminar at Columbia University in NY

Agirre Lehendakaria Center, in collaboration with AC4 – Advanced Consortium on Cooperation, Conflict and Complexity co-organized a public seminar titled “MODELS OF SUSTAINABLE HUMAN DEVELOPMENT: Lessons from the Basque Case”. The event took place last March 6 at Columbia University in New York.

New York - March 2015

Last March ALC visited New York in order to follow up the research projects based in Columbia University. During the stay, ALC held internal meetings with researches and collaborators of the different projects and visit several institutions, such as Eusko Etxea of New York. On March 6, there was an event around Sustainable Human Development at Columbia Unviersity.

Delegation from Northern Ireland (Social Innovation)

A delegation from Ireland visited the Basque Country last January. The group was formed by representatives of different fields, such as Paul Roberts (Ashton Centre), John Peto (Nerve Centre), Brendan Murtagh (Queen’s University), Michael Liggett (Big Lottery Fund), Maeve Monaghan (NOW Project), Audrey Murray (LEDCOM), Ciara Rea (North Belfast Enterprise Hub) and Paul Braithwaite (Building Change Trust).

Jaialdia 2015

Last July 30 Agirre Lehendakaria Center, Columbia University and GED - Gure Esku Dago organized a seminar on the Right to Choose at the Basque culture festival Jaialdia 2015, that took place in Boise, Idaho. During the event Juan Jose Ibarretxe's new book " The Basque Experience: constructing Sustainable Human Development" was also presented. Besides, Agirre Lehendakaria Center buildt ties with the Basque community in the US.

Agreement with Croatia

Last July 6, 7 and 8 a delegation of the Ministry of Economy in Croatia, led by Ivan Vrdoljak, visited the Basque Country. The main goal was to sign a collaboration agreement with Agirre Lehendakaria Center and the University of the Basque Country UPV-EHU, in order to advice the Mediterranean country in regards to the Basque model of successful Economic transformation, especially in the re-industrialization and cluster policies fields, as well as the Basque Sustainable Human Development model.

Scotland: Innovation & Prosperity

Last 23rd June the UK innovation agency NESTA and the Economic Development Association Scotland EDAS hosted an event that will look at the future of innovation in Scotland.

Lonergan Economics Project

Director of Lonergan Economics research project Paul Hoyt-O’Connor visited Bilbao in order to make progress on its last phase. During his stay, he met the main partners of the project and discussed the development of the research.

ECTL visit

David Avra-Lane and Paolo Gurisatti from the European Centre for Living Technology in Italy visited us last April in order to follow the different research projects carried out in collaboration with Agirre Lehendakaria Center.

Montreal Delegation Visit

Last JANUARY 20 AND 21 a delegation from Montreal visited the Basque Country in order to know in depth about the Basque socioeconomic transformation experience in the last few decades, as well as fostering different collaboration projects between the Basque Country and Quebec.
