"Mi casa: Una Vida en Comunidad" (Plena Inclusión)

Towards the deinstitutionalisation of care

ALC is working on "Mi Casa: Una Vida en Comunidad", a project led by Plena Inclusión, carrying out the Developmental Evaluation of the process. This project, in which various local entities participate, seeks a change in the way of understanding care in relation to people with IDD, supporting deinstitutionalization and enabling a dignified life in their communities.

This project, in which various local entities participate, seeks a change in the way of understanding care in relation to people with IDD, supporting deinstitutionalization and enabling a dignified life in their communities.

"Mi Casa" project is a process of transition from institutionalized life to the desired life in community

To this end, special emphasis is placed on local community development, co-produced by people and organizations in neighborhoods, towns and cities, identifying local needs that concern the entire community and building social innovation responses to solve challenges of each territory collectively.

ALC works on the Developmental Evaluation of the process.

The Developmental Evaluation allows internal and external changes and adjustments to be included in the experimentation process in real time, based on the perceptions and barriers identified among the agents involved in the project. It also allows us to generate learnings about the way in which these deinstitutionalization processes can be developed and provides new tools in the field of social innovation to the Community Connector figure.

Co-creating the role of the Community Connector

The figure of the Connector in the field of social services is being prototyped for the first time through the implementation of this project. Its main task is to ensure that people with IDD are connected to their community, as well as to strengthen community bonds. At ALC we are working on the process of co-creation of this figure, in which the Community Connectors, managers at Plena Inclusion, other project managers, politicians or public sector officials, among others, participate.
