Agirre Center, in collaboration with AC4 – Advanced Consortium on Cooperation, Conflict and Complexity co-organized the public seminar Basque Sustainable Development.

During the seminar the research project Basque Sustainable Development, carried out by both centers, was presented. The main goal of this project is to understand what social, economic and cultural elements have contributed to the transformation of the Basque country under very complicated conditions, applying the indicators that allow the measuring of sustainable human development.

Columbia University's Peter Coleman, Josh Fisher and Kristen Rucki took part in the event, along with other ALC collaborators, such as Andrea Bartoli (Seton Hall University), Armando Geller (Scensei) and Gorka Espiau (Agirre Center and Young Foundation.

This seminar included a keynote address by Dr. JUAN JOSE IBARRETXE, ALC director and former president of the Basque Government, presentations by renowned scholars and an exhibition by award-winning Basque artist ITZIAR BARRIO.

The event took place within the framework of the visit to New York that Agirre Lehendakaria Center made on MARCH 4, 5 AND 6, in order to follow up the research projects based in Columbia University.

During the stay, ALC held internal meetings with researches and collaborators of the different projects and visited several institutions, such as EUSKO ETXEA of New York.
