Last April 10 a delegation from Agirre Lehendakaria Center, made up of ALC Director and former Basque President JUAN JOSE IBARRETXE and ALC Senior Fellow and Young Foundation member GORKA ESPIAU, visited Zagreb in order to make progress in the joint projects with Croatia. The Mediterranean country has shown great interest in knowing in depth about the BASQUE TRANSFORMATION experience in the last few decades.

The visit included a meeting at the MINISTRY OF ECONOMY of Croatia, in which the vice-minister of EconomyALEN LEVERIĆ took part, as well as several members of his team, such as Vedran Kružić, Marija Rajaković, Sanja Rendić Miočević, Danijela Ćenan, Tomislav Pokaz, Goran Basarac, Ivana Šuman and Vlatka Bilas, among others. Representatives of the ECONOMY CHAMBER of Croatia and the Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation also attended the meeting.

During the reunion the Basque experience on innovation connected to economic progress was presented, particularly in the RE-INDUSTRIALIZATION and smart specialization areas. Additionally, Tomilav Pokaz explained the Industrial Strategy of the Republic of Croatia for the 2014-2020 period, and the POTENTIAL COLLABORATION AREAS between Croatia and the Basque Country were analysed.

Finally, the Basque delegation visited the BICRO BIOCENTAR facilities, a centre for the promotion of the SMEs and innovative projects.
