K TOOL

A new infraestructure to address complex challenges

The most urgent and serious global challenges we face today are multifactorial issues that no single solution can solve. Issues such as the ecological, social or digital transition are complex challenges that require an experimental approach and collective intelligence to be addressed in their entirety. The volume of information and the number of actors interacting in such complex contexts requires new digital capabilities to implement new open innovation approaches.

ALC has been working since 2021 hand in hand with Bestiario, and in collaboration with the Directorate of Foresight of the Office of the President of the Government of Cataluña and the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, in the design of a new infrastructure to address complex challenges, which brings to the digital sphere the knowledge generated for the visualization, evaluation and management of Social Innovation Platforms in real time.

An adaptive and anticipatory governance system

Mapping

Networks and relationships in complex ecosystems

This module allows you to visualize the interconnections between the mapped agents, between the mapped initiatives and between these two elements; show the diversity between agents and initiatives according to criteria such as the level of intervention (community, medium and large scale, public-private partnerships) and type of actor (civil society, public sector, academia, private sector, among others); and visualize its evolution, in marks of approximately 3 months.

Listening

Deepening democracy and the cultural dimension of social innovation

This module allows you to address and manage a deep listening process and facilitates the analysis of information from multiple channels. This information will be evaluated around two axes: segmentation (different visions of the same reality) and depth (differentiation between public, implicit and metanarrative discourse). This will make it possible to measure the response to narratives in real time.

Co-creation

Risk Management & Experimentation Portfolio

Incorporating a systemic approach to innovation involves managing experimentation portfolios that allow you to diversify risk and adapt to changing environments. Instead of opting for a certain strategy and putting everything on the line, this tool suggests building experimentation spaces that allow us to test various solutions in real time to scale those solutions with the best results. Experimenting is a way to manage risk more safely, anticipating possible scenarios.

Collective interpretation

Democratic deepening of the process in real time

Programs designed exclusively from an expert mindset often fail to connect with citizens' aspirations or address complex issues that require behavior change, such as democratic participation and institutional trust. With the aim of counteracting this shortcoming, approaching innovation processes from a non-expert logic and generating binding participation in real time, the tool proposes to measure the quality and quantity of deliberative spaces on how ecosystem mapping, listening and the experimentation portfolio are being managed.
