The first three years of Agirre Lehendakaria Center’s work have been focused on the academic research of the Basque experience of social and economical transformation, with three main projects based on AC4-University of Columbia in New York: Basque Sustainable Development, Basque Peace Process Scenarios and Lonergan Economics.

The result of this work indicates that the key to understanding the Basque transformation – as well as to build our future – lies on the cultural aspects underlying the strategic decisions that made it possible: shared values, common narratives expressing those values and collective/individual expressions of this value system.

The main goal of Agirre Lehendakaria Center now is to explore new methodologies and ways of applying the lessons extracted from the Basque experience with other countries, regions or towns wishing to respond to similar challenges in an innovative way.
